Joseph S. Bruno Auburn Abroad in Italy

International Minor In Human Sciences

In the College of Human Sciences, we encourage you to let the world be your classroom.

The International Minor in Human Sciences in designed to globalize your undergraduate study and supplement your degree with lessons that can only be learned while you explore the world.

One way to complete this minor is by studying abroad at the Joseph S. Bruno Auburn Abroad in Italy program.

For 12 weeks, our students are immersed in incredible art, history and culture in the heart of Italy and learn through a mix of lectures and field trips.

Another option is to study foreign language and human sciences within a global context on campus, then choose a four-credit hour study abroad experience. Our Office of Global Education offers study abroad opportunities in Europe, Fiji, Nepal, Great Britain and Jordan, with other contacts on every continent except Antarctica.

For those pursuing the International Minor in Human Sciences, broadening your horizons and seeing the world is an integral part of our curriculum.

Dear Mom, since I arrived in Italy, I feel like I'm living in a dream. Our campus is in this gorgeous baroque palace right in the middle of the old town of Area. It's surrounded by ancient woods, lakes, and vineyards, basically straight out of a movie. We're in the heart of where Roman history began, and Rome is just a short train ride away. I'm really getting immersed into Italian culture here, living in the community, and our classes are held in the museum. Every week we go on field trips to discover and explore a new part of Italy. I even painted a real fresco, and I'm learning how to cook traditional Italian dishes, la cucina Italiana. I've learned about architecture and design. I learned about Bernini. I learned about the importance of spending quality time with the people. I think Italy's an adventure. I think Italy's become a second home. Italy's gorgeous. Italy is family. I learned about different cuisines and their importance to culture. Honestly, Mom, my biggest assignment here has just been to soak it all in. I've been experiencing it all. you
