Hospitality Management

The Horst Schulze School of Hospitality Management (HOSP) provides a strong educational foundation and excellent career preparation for students interested in the premium service segment of the hospitality industry. restaurant, event planning, culinary, country club, foodservice or beverage industries.

As an added competitive advantage, students graduate with a business minor from the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in an international experience that will further distinguish HOSP graduates.

The program prides itself with a near 100% placement rate as graduates are in demand in a variety of health-related, hospitality and foods industry careers.

There are three formal options that students can choose form within the Hospitality Management program:

Hotel and Restaurant Management

The Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRMG) option is designed to prepare students for careers in the premium service segment of the lodging and food service industries.

Event Management

The Event Management Option (EVMT) is designed to attract students pursuing careers in the multi-faceted and ever evolving commercial, and non-commercial Meetings, Incentive, Conference and Events (MICE) sector.

Culinary Science

Culinary Science is designed to attract students pursuing careers in the commercial, and non-commercial food production and service industry.

We have the most unique learning environment in the form of the Tony and Liberian culinary Science Center curated to students like me who have a passion for the hospitality industry.

There is truly nothing else like this, anywhere else on the planet, and I know that, because I've had every industry professional that we have a relationship with validate that throughout the entire building, are opportunities for students to get hands on experience, from fine dining to being a barista to learning all the operations of a hotel.

We have a 32 key ultra luxury hotel, and we have a 46 seat teaching restaurant down the stairs.

I really wanted something where I could prioritize hands on learning, and that's all that I've seen. I've been in many labs. I'm in a culinary lab. They teach us knife skills, multitasking abilities, how to work in a team. I'm in a lodging Operations Lab. And so much of what we learn is really practical.

There are numerous trips that students can take that are led by faculty, whether it's backpacking in Europe or getting high end hospitality tour of France. The Masters at Augusta National is one opportunity for students to get a lot of work experience hours. Two wineries give students the opportunity to fly out to their vineyards and learn everything there is to know about the wine industry.

I didn't want to do just something that was opening books and studying for tests, but something that I could interact with people every day and learn from them in a really personal way. The hospitality program facilitates exactly that

If you have a passion for the hospitality industry, Auburn University is the place to be.
