Dietetics
Balanced nutrition is essential to improving quality of life. Auburn’s Didactic Program in Dietetics prepares graduates to understand the complexities of that relationship and help others optimize their diet in order to live a full, healthy life. In the first two years of the program, students are enrolled in a pre-professional component to build a strong foundation in basic sciences and an introduction to nutrition. Following that foundation, students accepted into the Dietetics program will take an array of courses to build their expertise in areas including nutrition education, the experimental study of foods, vitamins and minerals, food service management, professional issues in nutrition, public health nutrition, medical nutrition, nutrition counseling and more. Auburn’s Dietetics program maintains a 100 percent placement rate matching students to nationally competitive post-graduate internships, required experience to sit for the Commission on Dietetic Registration Examination to become a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
